General Electric Skateboard Questions
What is your electric skateboard’s top speed?
A realistic and safe speed for an electric skateboard is 20mph. Majority of the time, you will be riding around 12mph to 15mph on average. 20mph on an electric skateboard is fast enough. However, certain setups can reach up to 35mph to 60-70mph if you really wanted too. While we don’t recommend it, it is possible. That goes to show you how powerful these electric skateboards really are.
How steep/tall of a hill can your electric skateboard climb?
Depending on your electric skateboard setup and rider weight. Almost all eboards on are website are capable of going up hills that are at least 15% grade. Certain setups are more then able to climb 15-35% grade hills and perhaps even more. You want to remain a consistent quick speed of 3mph or more while going uphill. Starting your electric skateboard in the middle of the hill and/or riding slow speeds uphill can damage and stress the motors.
What’s the average distance of your electric skateboard?
The average distance for a lightweight electric skateboard setup would be about 6-8 miles per battery pack. The same battery with non-aggressive riding can reach about 8-12 miles per charge. We prefer having the ability to have more range while also keeping the board as light as possible. Our solution is carrying extra battery packs in a backpack and swapping them out when a battery pack has no more juice.
Currently, we are using standard RC (Remote Control) Battery packs but have plans to develop an easy quick-release battery pack.
What is the max rider weight?
These boards can safely ride riders who are between 220-250lbs easily. You can still create an electric skateboard that will effectively ride with a rider weight of 300-350lbs. It may cost a bit more since you will have to purchase better motors that can power the rider weight more effectively. Riders around 250 lbs can still go up 10-15% degree hills with ease.
Are These Electric Skateboards Waterproof?
Riding your electric skateboard in the rain is not recommend. However, it is possible and you can. There are a few things that you must watch out for to take better care of your electric skateboard. It is best to ride your electric skateboard in rain only on straight roads. It is not advisable to climb hills in the rain as the wheels will have a hard time with traction. Do not purposely drive into puddles. Riding while the floor is slightly wet is ok. If it is really wet I would not ride my skateboard in real wet conditions.
