This looks great and all but can I get a detailed list of parts that need to be bought to complete a setup with a single motor?

I’m with Guna and I’m pretty sure many others are on the same boat as well… I wish to electrify my longboard and a little uncertain with what to buy.

If I purchase the “Full Electric Skateboard Kit” (Single motor electric longboard), what else is needed that’s not included in this kit?

Also, is it possible to use our own wheels on the kit?

The items I need would be,rear truck with mount,50mm motor,ESC,remote controller, pulleys at wheel and truck, belt.
What would the cost be and the shipping cost to Singapore.

      Hi Guna,

Yes, that is correct. You would need all of that. You can use (2) 3S 5000mah Lipo batteries from HobbyKing.com. I’ll send you an email.

I really like your Idea here. I have played around with powered (gas and electric) for many years and I have enjoyed them all such as : an e-glide , Bushpig, several gas powered , and diy electrified Dirtsurfer.
I really like the electric idea but the performance was never there compared to really good longboards as you know. I’m thinking about electrifing one my better longboards in the short term as I can’t get my head around a $1500 skateboard that will probably ride like a pig.
Have you seen the OneWheel yet? I think the basic idea sounds ok but I see all kinds of problems that thing will probably have. Plus, I talked to them and it’s basiclly an unobtainable item in the near future.
I’ve been watching a new generation of rides come out using accelerometers and gyros….pretty cool stuff. I have been a high tech mechanic for about 30 years now supporting all types of automated equipment in the semiconductor business so I have the skills. This new technology is really interesting and I have been thinking about building my own board just for fun. I like the idea of incorporating an accelerometer as an on board motion controller. These parts are very accessible and fairly inexpensive from the robot online shops.
Do you have any experience with this. I would appreciate your thoughts.
    Thx
    Dave

One wheel seems ok but I heard people who bought it had issues. I unfortunately don’t have any experience with accelerometers or board motion controllers.

Thanks Jordan! Appreciate the positive feedback. It is a very enjoyable hobby and riding it is just as much if not more fun! I’ve rode about 800 miles on my electric longboard trucks in the hills of San Francisco so they are very durable! Will start releasing my how to videos on “how to create an electric longboard” to help everyone out. I know, it’s a very tough process but once you know it. It’s very very simple!

If you have any questions – feel free to email me at diyelectricskateboard@gmail.com. I do not mind helping you out personally as I get a ton of enjoyment from my electric skateboard. I’m sure, others would enjoy just as much if not more!

      Hi Jordan,

I calculated it and for a single motor 50mm setup it would cost around $550 with my kit included as well as the batteries, esc and miscellaneous parts.

I’m also working on releasing out videos on how to create the electric skateboard from scratch. I’ll also include a shopping/price list with all the recommended equipment to purchase along with my longboard kit.
