Most first-time builders can finish their setup in 2–4 hours with basic tools. We include diagrams, wiring guides, and walkthroughs — no engineering degree needed.

Do I need to solder anything?

No soldering required. Our kits use plug-and-play connectors designed for easy and safe DIY assembly.

Can I upgrade later?

Yes — that’s the point. The Builder’s Kit is fully modular and follows the OpenESK8 Standard, so you can upgrade motors, batteries, ESCs, wheels, or even the deck over time.

What’s the top speed and range?

Top speed is 30–40+ mph depending on your battery and gearing. Range depends on your battery size (12S4P = ~25–35+ miles typical).

Is this better than buying a prebuilt board?

If you want full control, future upgrades, repairability, and long-term value — yes. This kit outperforms most prebuilts in power, flexibility, and lifespan.

I’ve never built a board before. Can I still do this?

Absolutely. This kit was built for first-time builders. We’ve removed the confusion, standardized the parts, and made everything as straightforward as possible.

Can I use my own deck or battery?

Yes, but it becomes a true DIY build and may require soldering due to different dimensions of decks and needing extra longer wiring/etc. We recommend this for Advanced Builders. You’ll need to ensure compatibility for mounting holes, enclosure fit, and battery dimensions. We recommend using our deck + enclosure system for simplicity and guaranteed fit.
