Looking for the ultimate electric skateboard wheels? There are so many different options to choose from such as different wheel sizes from 83mm 90mm 100mm and 110mm electric skateboard wheels. We have both standard longboard street wheels and high performance electric skateboard wheels. Read our electric skateboard wheel buyer's guide below to get a better understanding on what wheel is best for you.
☑️ How To Choose The Best Electric Skateboard Wheels?
Choosing the best electric skateboard wheels can be difficult but could also be very easy too. If you’re looking to just ride and commute from point A to point B then typically wheel preference doesn’t matter too much if at all. If you’re looking to gain a 1-5% performance gain then yes trying to find the best wheel for your requirements might be much more difficult because it’s also do to personal preference.
For the average person about 90-95% of most people it doesn’t really matter too much especially if you’re traveling at speeds under 25mph and most likely you just need “GREAT” wheels for a “GREAT PRICE”.
For electric skateboard wheels specifically, we are using longboard wheels and not skateboard wheels. They are definitely different because skateboard wheels can be about 76mm in diameter and much thinner. Longboard wheels can be as big as 110mm wheels in diameter or even larger. For electric skateboards, we are typically riding wheels that have a diameter of 83mm wheels at the bare minimum and a better size is typically 90mm wheels or bigger unless you specifically want smaller wheels.
I hope this guide below explains everything you need to know about wheels and hopefully helps you in figuring out exactly what would work best for you.
☑️ Bigger or Smaller Wheels? What Wheel Size Should I Get? What’s the difference?
Deciding on bigger or smaller wheels depends on how compact and lightweight you want your board to be. Bigger wheels like 97mm and 110mm are going to be heavier than a smaller 83mm wheel. However, the 110mm wheels will ride over almost anything. You’ll be able to ride over railroad tracks, etc.
But 83mm or even 90mm wheels are perfect for a small lightweight commuter board that you can easily pick up and throw around everywhere.
You’ll have to decide what best fits your ideal preference and use case.
☑️ Electric Skateboard Wheel Cores? ABEC or KEGEL?
ABEC or KEGEL these are typically what we call the wheel cores for the wheels that we use for electric skateboards. These are based on patterns in the wheel core (center) of the wheel because these two patterns allows us to easily mount or secure or electric skateboard drive wheel pulleys to our electric skateboard wheels so we can have a pulley based system from our electric skateboard motor to our electric skateboard pulley to the electric skateboard belt.
Our biggest wheels the 110mm Electric Skateboard Wheels use the KEGEL Core as well as our 90mm TORQUE Wheels and 100mm TORQUE Wheels.
Our standard flywheel series use the ABEC core pattern and we have them in 83mm wheels, 90mm wheels and 97mm wheels. ABEC Cores do require you to drill in the bolt with an electric drill as it’s much easier than doing it manually.
You’ll want the correct drive wheel kit to match the wheel that you choose.

☑️ Electric Skateboard Wheel Replacement or Upgrade?
If you’re looking for an electric skateboard wheel replacement or an upgrade. You’ll want to check to see if you use an ABEC or KEGEL core for your wheels.
The next thing is to find out if your current electric skateboard drive wheel which is the wheel that has the pulley attached to it uses a bearing or not.
Our drive wheel pulleys don’t use bearings and are bolted through the wheel core.
You can ignore the additional bearing and include a spacer for the left over gap.

☑️ Wheel Durometer (aka Wheel Hardness)
Wheel durometer is typically seen as 78A 74A, etc. It’s the number with the A next to it. Typically, this is softness and hardness of a wheel. The lower the number the softer the wheel is and typically more grippy the lower the duro is.
A higher duro is going to be more slidey. If you want a more grippy setup which typically we do want in electric skateboards then you’ll opt for a lower duro rating.
☑️ Wheel Bearing Size?
Typically, most of all longboard wheels which are what we use for our electric skateboards all use the standard bearing size which are 608-2RS bearings.
You can get electric skateboard bearings here. These bearings are 8x22x7 which is 8mm inside diameter, 22mm outside diameter, 7mm width.
You can also use 10mm electric skateboard bearings too. These bearings are 6900-2RS which are 10x22x6 which is 10mm inside diameter, 22mm outside diameter, 6mm width. There will be a 2mm gap which means you may need a different set of bearing spacers if you’re using them between your wheels.
☑️ Hub Motor Wheel Replacement?
Hub motor wheel replacements are a bit more difficult as you can’t use any wheel to replace your hub motor wheels. The hub motor wheels are also usually proprietary for a specific motor or wheel hub.
If you’re looking for a hub motor wheel replacement the best place would be to buy from your original manufacturer for your electric skateboard.
