We are proud to release our TORQUE6 ESC which has been designed and based upon the VESC® Open Source Project. TORQUE6 ESC is compatible with the VESC® Software. We've spent countless hours and iterations on building a truly reliable electronic speed controller that will survive the daily abuse of your daily commute, aggressive leisure or pure performance builds.

TORQUE6 ESC provides impressive upgrade on torque and smoother acceleration while being built for reliability and long-term durability. TORQUE6 ESC is a huge improvement over our previous TORQUE ESC (v4.12) which can be easily noticed on your first ride.

Our TORQUE6 ESC handles all builds flawlessly and have been tested on high power, high performance 2WD and 4WD Electric Skateboards as well as 2WD and 4WD Mountain Boards with oversized 9" Tires.

For extra ESC cooling, we have also developed a TORQUE6 External Heatsink for those who are extremely aggressive on the throttle and would like even better ESC cooling performance.

SINGLE OR DUAL ESCS

We built our ESCs to still run in a single or dual ESC motor configuration. This means you can use a single TORQUE6 ESC for a single motor electric skateboard and upgrade to a dual motor electric skateboard for a future upgrade.

You can also run dual TORQUE6 ESCs for a dual motor electric skateboard which is definitely the most popular configuration.

By utilizing single ESCs , you can easily swap or replace ESCs for any reason. It gives you true flexibility with your ESCs for upgrading or downgrading which is a great convenience especially if you have more than one electric skateboard.

BUILT IN HEATSINK

Each of our TORQUE6 ESCs are enclosed in an Aluminum Heatsink for high thermal dissipation and paired with a high thermal conductivity thermal pad.

Our TORQUE6 ESC PCBs inside the heatsink enclosure are bolted down and all components are secured with foam pads to make our ESCs handle any and all vibrations while riding an electric skateboard for thousands of miles.

We do want this to be the last Electric Skateboard ESC that you will need to purchase for the life of your electric vehicle.

☑️ What Can I Use TORQUE6 Single VESC Based ESC for?

VESC Based ESCs are electronic speed controllers designed as the brains of an electric vehicle and they allow you to control the motor function. You can easily use an ESC for electric skateboards, electric longboards, electric scooters, ebikes and much more.

☑️ Single ESC vs Dual ESC Benefits

There are many benefits why you would choose a Single ESC over a Dual ESC. A single ESC can be used in a wide range of electric vehicles and offers a better balance for single motor vehicles. If you ever need a second motor, you can always combine two singles or simply upgrade to a dual motor esc.

Simplified Usage - You only need to use one motor and a dual ESC would not be needed for your application.

Cost Effective - Using a single ESC can reduce the cost to build making it perfect for a budget-friendly build.

VESC stands for Vedder Electronic Speed Controller and its a highly flexible and customizable electronic speed controller designed to control electric motors. It’s based on an open-source platform created by Benjamin Vedder. The VESC has become popular due to the ability to use them for electric skateboards, electric surfboards, electric bikes, electric drones and robotics and much more. ☑️ Benefits of a VESC Compatible ESC

There are many benefits to using a VESC Compatible ESC and specifically that’s due to it being entirely open source software, you get full control and customization of your electric vehicle.

  • Open-Source Software - VESC is 100% open source and constantly improving. It’s very versatile and adaptable in which you can see many different types of VESCs for different voltages and different sizing and configurations.
  • Highly Customizable Settings - With the VESC Tool, riders can configure every setting since it’s also open source you have highly customizable settings which allow you to tweak all the specific settings of your electric skateboard’s performance including speed, braking and torque curve. This customization isn’t typically available for generic ESCs.
  • Regenerative Braking - VESCs have regenerative braking which allows you to partially recharge your battery when braking.
  • Smooth Start and Stop - VESC controllers are known for the smoothness of acceleration and deceleration even without using motor hall sensors.
  • Overload Protection - VESC has built in safety features such as current and thermal protection which can prevent your motors from overheating which will extend the life of your electronics.

☑️ Electric Skateboard ESC Upgrade or Replacement?

Yes, you can typically upgrade or replace a standard ESC with a VESC based ESC. However, there are a few things that you must consider before you purchase a VESC based ESC.

ESC Sizing - ESC Size is important as a VESC based ESC will not typically be a plug and play ESC unless you’re using it for a DIY Electric Skateboard that typically has more flexibility as enclosure size is much larger to accommodate. Know your current ESC size and the size of the ESC that you are purchasing. You may need to create a custom ESC Housing by 3D Printing Electric Skateboard Parts.

  • ESC Housing - The enclosure that you use for your ESC will need to fit in your existing enclosure if not you’re typically best solution is to create a custom 3d printed enclosure.
  • Battery Compatibility - What is the battery voltage for your current electric skateboard? Typically, this will need to match for the VESC you purchase.
  • Motor Compatibility - You’ll also want to confirm that your motors will work with the VESC based ESC. Typically, VESC can work with all motor types but specific ESCs may work better with specific type of motors.
  • Battery Wires - You’re battery wires will need to connect to your ESC. Both ESC and Battery need to have similar connectors. You can always solder and change out the connectors or build a wire adapter.
  • Motor Wires & Connectors - You’re motor wires will need to plug into your ESC into the Motors. Same as the battery wires. You will need your ESC to connect to your motors.
  • Sensor Wires & Connectors - Sensor wires are the hall sensors on your motor and same as battery and motor. These will need to connect directly to your ESC. You can buy motors/escs that connect directly to each other for ease of simplicity/use.

☑️ How easy or hard is it to program the VESC?

Programming VESC based ESCs are not difficult they just take some time getting use to it. They are by far much better than non-programmable ESCs as you get full functionality but don’t worry. We’ve created step by step tutorials that will allow you to program your VESC based ESC in no time at all.

☑️ VESC 4.12 vs VESC 6 Differences?

VESC6 is the latest version of VESC and is a significant upgrade over V4.12 in terms of hardware design, reliability and durability. However, VESC v4.12 hardware has been improved over the years and is much more stable that it was when it first started.

For a light-weight and normal electric skateboard the VESC 4.12 is perfectly capable and all you typically need.

If you’re looking to build a high performance electric skateboard and what higher amperage and want the best of the best then a VESC6 type ESC will be ideal for you.
